Cello Sonata in G Minor, Op. 65
简介
Chopin’s Cello Sonata has played notable importance no less than his piano pieces. Attributed to his 18-year friendship with the cellist Auguste Franchomme, this one and only Cello Sonata is considered one of the most mature & the grandest pieces. Axel Salmona’s performance, Similar to the delicate and abundance musicality of Auguste Frachhomme, has the elegance and the French touch in which we could reminisce the collaboration of Chopin and Frachhomme. From the hesitant first movement, glamorous yet solitary second movement, the sweet and swiftly dream in the third movement, and finally it ends at the quasi agitato fourth movement. Salmona’s performance has definitely reached a new level. After the Cello Sonata, it comes to 5 Etudes and Nocturnes Axel Salmona re-arranged. Under the beautiful and sentimental melodies there lies the huge tension and shadowy melancholy which implies the loss and solitude of Chopin. In the nocturne in E major, also the last piece of this album, the light and chason-like melody reflects the calmness and reconciliation of life. This recording uses vacuum tube and mastering with SADiE audio workstation to keep sweet and wood-like sound of cello and piano.
