But some may not realize that TIN PAN ALLEY was actually a real place – located in the heart of New York City on 28th St. between 5th and 6th Aves. On these two blocks all the great (and would-be great) popular composers had their offices. Legend has it that newspaper reporter Monroe Rosenfeld was walking through the fabled block one day. Upon hearing the cacophony of songsters within their little factories feverishly trying to churn out their next hits on upright pianos, he proclaimed it sounded like hundreds of people “banging on tin pans”. The rest is musical history. TIN PAN ALLEY is also where “Croon Prince” David Giardina calls home.
