"Linda has a wonderful voice and a huge heart." Steve Thorpe, Rapid City (SD) Journal, singer, songwriter, author Brave Songs is a collection of 18 songs about folks of all ages fighting for a more just world. Songs are in English, Spanish, Kiswahili, Arabic, Urdu, and Hindi and cover a wide range of social justice topics: Indigenous rights and leaders (Anna Mae Aquash), bullying, LGBTQ youth, public education, solidarity and community, Indian women,The Pink Sari Gang, and Mexican women flower vendors, both fighting against misogyny, and empowering women, the story of Mesopotamia/Iraq, peace for Palestine, a Jewish resistance fighter, Hannah Senesh, and world-famous labor songs. "Once again Linda Boyle addresses and champions poignant issues through music and lyrics. Thank you for your songs against injustice and inequity. For those in the fight, we need them to keep working. For those on the sidelines, they need to listen, learn and get inspired." Al Ramirez –Chicago Teachers Union Trustee Chair These songs tell stories through beautiful melodies and powerful lyrics. Most are originals by Linda Boyle, with several by incredible song writers: Anna Stange, Jim Page, Theresa Kubasak and Hayat Ahmad. Hayat wrore a beautiful ghazal poem for me. The musicians on this album breathe life into the songs. David Bragman, sound engineer for this album, brings his expertise into creating a clear, pure sound, as well as performing on guitar, electric bass guitar and banjo, of which he is a master. L.J. Slavin is an accomplished, passionate musician whose violin, mandolin and flute (and Indian cymbals) grace several songs on this album. Other musicians are Dennis Huston's guitar and vocals, Eddie Torrez, accordionist and Sol Dolnick, percussionist. “Linda Boyle sings with power and passion about things that matter, or should matter, to everyone. Tales of working folks, and deep concern for children run through her songs like electrical current, galvanizing us with hope for who we can become.” Stuart Stotts, author, storyteller, singer-song writer ALA 2011 Honor Award, Kennedy Center artist " This diverse collection of music, beautifully performed, will inspire any listener to sing along, perhaps engage in some acts of bravery, too!"
