After a successful run of small group recordings of classic standards ("The Very thought Of You", "The Way You Look Tonight", "Like Someone In Love") for the North Star label, the group decided to add strings to the mix. "Romancing the Sax" was so successful for the label, that it began a series of "jazz with strings" recordings that included "Moonlight & Sax" "Sax Across America", "Jazz For Lovers" and a collection of Christmas favorites "Mistletoe Sax".
