The Gales are made up of brothers Remi (acoustic guitar/percussion/vocals)& Ramsey (banjo/percussion/vocals) Thornton, along with Kent Huddleston (guitars/vocals). All three originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, The Gales were formed in 2016 in a dorm room at Oklahoma State University by members Ramsey & Kent after playing music together for many years. Remi joined the group in 2017 after moving back to Stillwater to begin graduate school. Remi, the eldest of the two brothers, is a percussionist first; currently holding a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from OSU and working on a Master's in Percussion Performance. He currently is the adjunct Instructor of Percussion at OSU. Kent became friends with Ramsey in elementary school - around the same time he began playing guitar. Kent spent two years at Oklahoma State before transferring to the University of Central Oklahoma in 2018. While at OSU, Kent studied nursing, along with part-time jazz guitar lessons and attended luthier school in Michigan during the summer of 2018. Ramsey also started as a drumset player/percussionist and took up the banjo in 2016. He attends Oklahoma State University where he is a Global Studies major with an emphasis in sustainabilty. Ramsey spends his free time studying Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, and other American Folk icons.
