Jamison likes to call his music, "Americana Kindie." So what exactly is that?! Kindie, or Kindie Rock, is an exciting new genre of independent music. Over the last decade, a wide variety of styles: from folk to rock, pop to hip-hop, have been finding their way into music geared towards kids and their families. Parents were growing tired of the “bubble-gum” style music typically made for children, so a handful of talented singers and songwriters (many of whom have kids of their own) saw a fantastic opportunity to provide some refreshing alternatives. What started as a small movement has now blossomed into a fantastic and ever-growing community of artists and listeners, with exciting new music the entire family can really enjoy. The term Americana is a bit more elusive. Trusty ol’ Wikipedia says it’s “an amalgam of roots music formed by the confluence of the shared and varied traditions that make up the American musical ethos; specifically those sounds that are merged from folk, country, blues, rhythm and blues, rock and roll, and other external influences.” And hey, that sounds just about right! It just so happens that Nashville, Tennessee, the city Jamison calls home, is also a true-blue mecca for Americana music. Jamison moved to Nashville with his wife Ellen seven and a half years ago. Over the years, Jamison has worked as a music professor, private instructor, session musician, and toured and recorded with some of the amazing talent Nashville has to offer. In 2012, Jamison’s daughter Alex was born, helping to inspire a new perspective and career path. While dancing with his daughter or rocking her to sleep, Jamison would come up with little tunes, some of which would eventually become full-fledged songs. From these experiences, and a bit of soul-searching, Jamison realized one of his true passions was as a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Inspired by his good friend, Elena Moon Park, who recently released a fantastic family-album, Rabbit Days and Dumplings, Jamison took the plunge and decided to put together an album of original music. Get On Down! , Jamison’s upcoming first album, is a collection of all original songs that celebrate Americana music for kids and families. He leaves no stone unturned when it comes to exploring the wide variety of Americana styles either. On this album you will hear New Orleans brass bands, Jump Blues, Country and Western, 60′s Pop, Motown, Dixieland, Doo-wop, Folk, Rock and Roll, Bluegrass, and more!
