简介
Jessikah is a singer/songwriter with a touch of twang and a whole lot of soul, which lends to her unique country sound. Her raw and candid lyrics tell stories that everyone can relate to. “Struggles, heartache and lost love,” she says, “connect us all as human beings.” Like any good country artist, Jessikah was raised with southern roots. She grew up on a farm just north of Nashville, Tennessee, where she helped her family raise chickens and sheep. She finds a major source of inspiration from her family, especially her brother, Josh, who has autism and other developmental disabilities. Jessikah states, “He has shown me how to love and be loved without any reservation,” which is often reflected in her songs. Although Jessikah has always loved music, she has spent the last decade pursuing other avenues. Jessikah has served as an advocate and public figure for those with disabilities. She started a community outreach program in 2005 and has traveled the world delivering her message of hope to those with a variety of struggles. She recently went to Africa and Brazil to deliver over 700 wheelchairs. Jessikah is currently finishing up her Ph.D. in Industrial Psychology at Clemson University, where she conducts research, teaches classes, and serves as a consultant for international companies and the state legislature. With all of this success in other areas, Jessikah is often asked why she is now pursuing a career in music. In a recent interview she stated, “Music has always been my passion, but I’ve just been too afraid to put myself out there. After years of playing piano and singing in my living room, I am finally ready to chase my dream. I want to live up to the message of courage and fearlessness that I have been spreading to others.”
