It all started over 45 years ago with a band called Woodfog which had an original line up of Mart Lee, Dave Sumeray and Ray Simoné. They were very inspired by 70s band Wishbone Ash's debut album and, in particular, a track called Phoenix. In a way, Creatures of Habit's story is the story of a Phoenix. They worked for a while as a three piece writing songs such as The Knower, Death Grows Inside You, Lady of The Storm and Where Have All The Years Gone? These tracks are all on Creatures of Habit's new album. From the earliest days their main musical influences were Cream, Wishbone Ash, Stray, Budgie, Black Sabbath, Genesis and The Beatles. Influences which blended into their own, unique powerhouse sound. They played local venues in their hometown of North London and also toured the country playing universities and clubs and supporting various headlining bands of the era including Glencoe, The Pretty Things, Principal Edwards Magic Theatre and The Edgar Broughton Band, among others. 40 or so years passed (seriously...where HAVE all those years gone!?) during which time Dave, Mart and Ray occasionally got together for a jam but that was in the 70s and 80s. Eventually, around 2009 the three of them decided get together together for a jam. It was clear that the synergy was still there and they decided to reform the band under a new name....Creatures of Habit. Sadly, after some time rehearsing new material Ray became very ill and passed away. It was the loss of a close friend and a great fellow musician. Mart switched from drums and took over guitar duties and Paul Squires stepped in and took over the drum seat. The debut album of Creatures of Habit is called, "Where Have All The Years Gone?" and is dedicated to Ray Simoné Where Have All The Years Gone? is an exciting blend of classic and modern rock. ​David Sumeray plays Warwick and Fender basses Martin Lee plays Fender Guitars David Sumeray would like to thank Martin Lee, his ever-patient and supportive wife Carlien and Bonnie the Labrador.
