Galen Fitzpatrick was born, Galen Fitzpatrick, in Rome Georgia, on May 6th in the year of our lord 1982. A difficult child from the start he refused to gestate to the full term and then when asked to politely step out the door insisted that he be raised through a window. His mother's abdomen smiles at him for this. Galen grew up around music, and not just in the way that most people do (radios) and not in that way that children of pop stars do either, and not even in that "I grew up in a guitar store" way, but rather in that good ol' fashioned home grown "my pappy played piano when he got home from work" kind of way. Frustrated by the lack of music during the hours while his father was away, Galen began slowly, mysteriously, and with all the reverence of an angry hippopotamus to attemp to play the songs his father had played the night before. Frustrated with the lack of anything resembling music during the hours that Galen attempted to play piano, his parents arranged for him to receive piano lessons. And then came those awkward teen years where all boys discover either girls or other boys, or perhaps animals if that's what they're in to. It became quickly apparent that cheerleaders were not going to come sit next to him after practice if he was in the school auditorium playing piano. So deciding that woodwinds and brass instruments wouldn't allow him to talk to the girls either he decided that a stringed instrument would be best. He played his new-guitar-with-too-many-strings at school, at summer camps, in the street, and in the field. He discovered that Cheerleaders are apparently deaf (much like frogs with no legs). Galen currently plays with Opium Rose (http://www.opiumrose.com) where he terrorizes the other members with key changes, time signature changes, language changes, and obscure lyrical references, and also plays solo or with the small acoustic group Heroin Daisy.
