简介
Shepard Tones is the debut digital EP from melodic dubstep producer Coleco. Coleco is currently a Bristol based musician, who has a taste in music that spans far across the genre landscape. Being influenced by everything from world music, funk, rock, and varying types of electronica, to his memories of 90s 8 bit video game music, Coleco channels his current efforts into the quickly evolving world of dubstep. Although dubstep is the name circling alot of his compositions, Coleco's music is more of a genre defying exploration of sounds. All of his influences become clearly apparent in his music, as takes you on a journey through deeply harmonic melodies, and heavy funk breakbeats, with deep, rippling bassline undertones. With the initial release of "Campfire Funk" on Soul Motive, a forthcomming on Destructive, and a full blown album due for early 2011, Coleco now brings you "Shepard Tones EP" a collection of 3 hard hitting melodical dubstep tracks. "Shepard Tones" is epic, cinematic music, layered with twisting, melodic leadlines, and heavy dubstep beats, that builds up into a monumental second drop to cause havok on the dancefloor. "Pixelated" is a synth-driven dancefloor track with a big, funky breakbeat, and an euphoric, 8-bit vibe. "Skull Step" is a dark and dirty dubstep roller, with a creepy analogue style synth line, haunting atmospheric vocal, and a chest-rattling subbass. "After the exhilarating rush of Campfire Funk was released on Soul Motive last year, plenty of people started taking a deeper interest in this young producer who's cinematic scope and ear for melody belies his age and experience. Bristol is not short of dynamic or innovative producers in this genre, but Coleco is operating on the very fringes of the sound in a similar fashion to Soul Motive's label boss Forsaken." - Andy Basic: Bristol Dubstep Promotor, and now working with Soul Motive Records.
