For many years before the ITV Superstar competition I had been writing music as well as working successfully in musical theatre. Writing and recording music is one of my greatest passions and I will carry on doing so for as long as I can. As well as recording this "Acoustic Cover" series I am currently working on an original album, I am particularly keen to get the sound and style exactly right. It will hopefully be ready for the start of next year but I'm holding out until its 100% ready. Back in 2012, before the ITV "Superstar" competition I'd decided to record a collection of songs that would recapture the style of the gigs that I was performing up and down the country for my small group of fans that would follow me and also to the theatre shows that I was in. I never thought that the first album would have had the showcase it did from the 'Superstar' TV show and that it would go on to sell internationally. I obviously was very excited as I produced and funded this album independently. Its was a very basic album just me and a guitar, singing some of my favorite songs. I am aware that people often think that cover albums are a bit cheesy but I don't think that these albums or my approach to covering a song is at all. They are my interpretations of some brilliant songs. They concentrate on the message of the song and the voice and the purity of singing acoustically, I believe, is really powerful. Hopefully this has been the recipe to what has impelled people to buy the first acoustic covers album and also triggered the amount of requests I've had to do another. Therefore owing to the success of my first album, Acoustic Covers, for the past few months, have been recording 'Acoustic Covers Vol.2.' It is of similar style to the first Album but this time I have added a piano into the mix. All my song choice's have been requests from my fans via twitter and my website. I thought why not directly ask the people who will buy the album what it should include. I had thousands of requests. I narrowed them down to the ones that were most popular and the ones that inspired me the most and those that I felt depicted the most sentiment. The style of the album is very simple, music at its most real and raw, just three men bringing to life these wonderful classic songs, some old and some more recent releases. I hope people like it and my interpretations of the songs. I endeavor that the writers themselves would also be happy with my version of their music.
