We are The Dirty South, a six piece melodic hardcore band drawing influence from bands such as August Burns Red, Parkway Drive and Bring Me The Horizon. We emerged from the separation of another band, looking to fill the gap in the market with musicians who are passionate about what they play and the local music scene. Trying to revamp and re-energise the local area to its former glory, with bands such as Funeral For A Friend, Lostprophets and Skindred emerging from the local area (that’s without mentioning bands such as Hondo Mclean and Stereophonics). We are from South Wales, an area with little or no prospects for many of those raised there, hence our name. However we all have gratitude towards the place we call home, it may be scurrilous and down trodden yet it creates a stronger bond to those who make it cope-able. We play aggressive, technical music with a fun edge. We are energetic, passionate and resonant. Our guitar riffs are technical but melodic with a resounding and lasting influence backed with thumping drums and breathtaking beats. The double vocals add energy and layers to the performance and recorded music, allowing the crowd to get involved with some whole band chants and sections. Our bass riffs are technical following the guitars and pushing the boundaries of what is done locally and in music today. The South Wales local music scene has been dying for years with less and less people going to, searching for and supporting local bands and promoters, forcing bands to outsource from the area, and bringing no or very little music from live shows to the area. The Dirty South plan to revive this, within their currently short life they have impressed promoters and draw almost sold out crowds, with support coming from all directions (Just see our references). Our guitar parts have been referenced to August Burns Red (A massive influence on both guitarists) with the energy of the performance being compared to the likes of the monstrous “Parkway Drive”. Slowly they are reviving the local music scene and getting a lot of support and praise from all promoters they have worked with. We are currently looking to outsource further afield to immerse ourselves within the industry and grow a much larger fan base so we can draw people from surrounding areas into our music. “Great energy and more than anything great enthusiasm for what they do!
