简介

If there is one name of a composer in the history of 20th Century music whose career can be really split into a European and an Amercican part Kurt Weill must be mentioned first. Coming from Berlin of the Roaring Twenties where he worked with Bert Brecht and where he created highly provocative works such as "Drei-Groschen-Oper" (Three-Penny-Opera) or "Mahagonny", Weill found himself an imigrant and fugitive from Nazi Germany in America. Here, in New York, he had to adopt himself to a completely different style of music. Among the few European composers who really "made it" on Broadway Kurt Weill is certainly the "Number 1". His outstanding musical talent allowed him to adopt almost every musical style that was required. In order to show the two musical faces of Kurt Weill this new album contrasts two singers who have earned greatest fame in the interpretation of Kurt Weill's music: Lale Andersen (of "Lili Marlene"- Fame) who covers the Berlin part of Weill's career with highlights from his "Tree-Penny-Opera" and Felicia Sanders who presents various highlights from Weill's success on Broadway. A thrilling musical experience. All tracks have been carefully remastered in 24 Bit High Definition.
