简介
(Original Liner Notes): I previously stated, "I hear bass and drums...next step?" Well if some extra punch was needed to get everyone's attention, here it is. Let me speak to some highlights. "Every Single Day" surrounds you with acoustic 12-strings galore, with prominent percussive off beats, just to keep things interesting. "Come Follow" jumps right in with a great piano intro followed by a melody that I defy you to stop humming after more than a brief listen. Buddies Jeff and JD are all over this one and everyone is having a good time. The "conga" sound works perfectly until ultimately relinquishing to a dramatic "string" fade. "Pure" is both passionate and intense and reveals the true strength of this young artist. The majestic and lilting break swirls around until leaving you on yet another satisfied level. "Train Generation" takes you down the "tracks" of Matt's keyboard while a syncopated drumbeat chugs along with him. We also get a chance to really hear Matt play piano.... this guy's good. "Change" is introspective and surely could be traced to early folk heroes like Phil Ochs, all delivered with a single voice track accompanied by a vintage Guild acoustic. "Draw" is a work that again creates an intense mood and instantly pulls you in. The end chorus is "Beatlesque," with changing sounds and voices every four measures. This is a show closer for sure. This work summons a true beginning to what I believe is a promising career for this young singer/songwriter. An artist schooled by yesterday's traditions and inspired by all that the future has to offer. -WC
