简介
Born With a Determined Idea 1. Who Are The Five Percent? (ft. Lord Jamar) Lord Jamar of Brand Nubian takes a moment to answer one of the most asked questions in Hip Hop "Who are the Five Percent?". 2. Knowledge of Self (ft. Dom Pachino) A heavy bass line and soulful violin sample set the mood as Lord Hakim spits lines of esoteric knowledge, "I Stimulate Life And Matter with data through conversation/ Cuz Proper Education Allows Constant Elevation" while Dom Pachino keeps it raw and gritty dropping jewels and shouting out "One love to all my brothers that learned to free they mind". 3. Brass Knucklez (ft. Vast Aire & Phizz Ed) Hardcore Hip Hop at its finest. Lord Hakim, Vast Aire, & Phizz Ed Throw puch lines to black ya 3rd eye over a dark & dusty drum groove. "Sample tunes, type ta hack a loop ta death/ Wit cut & stabs like my lab was the last house on the left". 4. Just (I Cee Equality) (skit) A prime example of emceeing in its rawest form, a clever play on the word "Just" backed up by a head nodding funk groove that sounds like it should've been entrance music for the Players Ball. "Straight pneumonia with the flow, yo I’m just that sick/ Spit 16s ta split teams, I’m just that sh**". 5. The Power Degree (interlude) (ft. Lord Jamar) Lord Jamar explains the significance of the number five as it relates to the principle of power in the "Supreme Mathematics" of The Nation of Gods and Earths (NGE). 6. Scripturez (ft. Planet Asia) A menacing psychedelic sample chopped up over pounding drums and a thick bass line provides the background for Planet Asia's machine gun rhyme patterns "Asiatic my stats, Military my gats/ Cemetery you cats and that’s Actual Fact", while Lord Hakim throws jabs like a hungry heavy weight contender "Attack tracks wit a death touch in full contact close quarter combat, fall back like quarter backs/ The game is wack, so I came ta make it change like launder mats". 7. Speak My Mind Lord Hakim takes a few moments to introduce himself and enlighten the listener on few reasons why he's "The 7 not the 1 to take lite", over an up tempo jazz riff balanced by hard hitting percussion. 8. I Luv U 2 Death "As sure as love brings life in the world son it take it/ Especially when the meaning of the word is mistaken" Lord Hakim takes a frank and honest look at obsessive relationships and deadly consequences they can have. 9. Poison Flower "I'd try an blame it on the liquor, it's an excuse/See the truth is, she confused love with abuse" Lord Hakim gives his personal take on an aspect of Domestic violence that doesn't get much exposure; men being physically assaulted by women. 10. Problemz (ft Kev-O, Ray Swoope, & Doc Giggz) Bills, bail money, & Baby Mommas; Kev-O, Ray Swoope & Doc Giggz join Lord Hakim to vent their frustration over what Doc Giggz describes as "No matter how hard I try to do right-something's going wrong". A smooth jazzy melody summed up by the sing along chorus "Taking all my money/ That aint right at all". 11. Aunt Mildred Lord Hakim opens up his mental family photo album and takes listeners on journey through the good times of spending summers down south in the late 1980's over a slow bass heavy soul sample. 12. The Education of Master Shahid (skit) A skit that finds Lord Hakim educating his 2 year old son on Hip Hop & mic etiquette (amongst other things) after catching the toddler attempting to man handle an expensive studio mic. 13. Father to Sun Funky guitar riffs layered with soulful vocal stabs set the stage for Lord Hakim to give his comical take on being single father raising a rebellious teenage son. "Ayo listen Richie Rich fore you go spending that doe/ Son, loot don't buy you love it just rents you hoes". 14. Franklin County Representative 6-1-4 (skit) Lord Hakim uses wordplay and punch lines to batter an old school funk break in honor of his home town, Columbus, Ohio. "I grab the mic and bring the Uncle Rukus/ Lord Hakim spitting 16 is murder by the numbers". 15. Body Armor (ft Bronze Nazareth) Lord Hakim and Bronze Nazareth go back to back spitting heavy caliber bars over a chopped up vocal sample. "Mad scientist manipulate molecular cells/ & leave a massacre like Mexican drug cartels". 16. Jewelz (Interlude) (ft. Lord Jamar) Lord Jamar briefly touches on "The 12 Jewels" of The NGE. 17. Peace God (ft. Lord Jamar) Fueled by psychedelic rock sample, Lord Jamar weaves a no nonsense narrative on the history of the NGE in Hip Hop "You couldn't slack when The Gods was around/ test you on your lessons, if you don't know'm then we gon' beat you down", while Lord Hakim spits knowledge on the common ancestry of man "From the pyramids of Giza parallel to Chichen Itza/ Made to think that we were different to conceal our common features". 18. The Beginning of the End (Zig, Zag, Zig) Ominous horns layered with sinister synthesizer swells set the mood for Lord Hakim to throw combination punch lines like he was sparring with a wooden dummy. "Fly as Air Force one plus six, spit slick/ Flow sick, like a f*****g fiend no fix, no sh**".
