简介
Duncan Cameron is increasingly well known in Canada, the U.S. and the U.K. for his strong vocals and remarkable instrumental abilities. He plays twelve instruments, including fiddle, guitar, whistles, uilleann pipes, bodhrán, Irish bouzouki, mandolin, mandola, Irish tenor banjo, five-string banjo, English concertina, and Appalachian dulcimer. Growing up in a musical family gave Duncan a strong musical foundation. His parents, Stewart and Dianne, and older sister Moira sang and told stories together at folk festivals and schools throughout Ontario. Duncan continues to share Celtic heritage, through teaching adults and children, self-publishing books of traditional and original fiddle tunes, and touring with numerous bands and theatre shows including "Needfire" and "The Magic of Ireland". His debut solo album, The Whistling Thief, released in 2000, features both traditional music and his original songs and instrumentals. He is currently a member of Tamarack (www.tamarack.cjb.net), Fig for a Kiss (www.figforakiss.com), and The Pierre Schryer Band (www.pierreschryer.com) whose CD, Blue Drag, was nominated for a Juno Award in 2004, for "best roots/traditional album of the year." "The finest young Celtic musician I have heard!" Dan Laxer, CJAD Radio, Montreal "Unsurpassed! ... He could pick up a stick of wood in the forest and make music." Lorne Brown, co-founder of The Storytellers School of Toronto (www.storytellingtoronto.org) and editor of The Canadian Folk Music Bulletin (cfmb.icaap.org) "I LOVE this CD [The Whistling Thief]!" Peter Crowheart, Program Director, World Music Radio, San Diego, CA. "[The Whistling Thief] is really brilliant! Wonderful music! Wonderful arrangements!" Pierre Schryer, Canadian Grand Masters Fiddle Champion
