A message from The GrooveBarbers: WARNING: BARBERSHOP! was recorded live at Sean's old East Village apartment sometime around the turn of the century. Here's the thing... If you like barbershop, you're not going to like this record. Why? Because we're a doowop group, not a barbershop quartet. We love tosing barbershop and we love to listen to it, but to execute it right takes dedication and precision, things we lack, along with washboard abs and scruples. We simply haven't put in the 10,000 hours required to get good at barbershop. We've put in about 25 — just enough to learn the words and start and stop in the same places (occasionally). We have respect, admiration and love for those stalwart few who do it well, but we don't count ourselves among them. They would prefer we remained in the audience and probably want us dead. Then, if you don't like barbershop, well, then why would you even be holding this in the first place? Read the title. So whom is this for? It's for the curious, the brave, the firebrands, the iconoclasts, the kind of people who smell sour milk even when they know it's gone bad, people who stare at the sun, scab-pickers, rubberneckers, spelunkers, sadomasochists, graverobbers, boobgrabbers, groovy barbers, and people who just love music despite where it comes from.
