First up with Black Dog, we find ourselves immediately captured by the strong, resonating bass beat the track lends. With the upper layer of sound drifting in and out of focus, the piece infuses a rather ethereal sound, in contrast with the heavy heart of the track; allowing an overall mellow, yet catchy tone. Very visual in the constantly changing refection of sound, Black Dog proves to be a track easy to lose yourself in. With a heavier under beat, juxtaposed with the flakier foreground, Hold makes more use of unfocused sensual vocals. This track proves to be choppier, and is generally rougher in its delivery. With an overall faster tempo, it appeals to a darker more sinister side; coming full circle in its ending, with the same head thudding beat it began with. Al Bradley’s remix of Hold is completely different in its outset, focusing on the cheekier side of the track, and playing more on the hypnotic female vocals Licking closer to the sensuous side of the original, Al Bradley’s remix lightens the mood from sinister to a more exciting tone, in the way it captures the sense of the unknown. An altogether alternative sound, the piece offers a quicker beat to work the floor with, ending smoothly with a soft wash of sound.
