简介
A storm is brewing in the mid-Atlantic that has folks in the resort town of Ocean City in a frenzy. But no one is seeking refuge. They all want to witness firsthand the incredible squall of sound and style that has been pummeling these shores since 1997: A perfect storm known as Lennex. Lennex is the combined energies of brothers Brian and Brandon Luckett (Guitar and Drums), their cousin Derek Boening (Guitar), Bruce Long (Bass) and Phil Ritchie (Lead Vocals and Trumpet). The best of friends, Lennex crystallized during high school jazz band practice where Bruce and the brothers met Phil "when we heard Phil sing we were blown away. The fact that he plays trumpet is just an added bonus." Lennex - whose name carries a curious connection to the late Andy Kaufman, began developing their own brand of music: A powerful, absorbing and widely accessible vortex of hard-rocking rhythms and ethereal melodies. The band has packed many of the city's favorite bars and clubs, giving everyone in their path a delightful a** kicking. Locals are commonly heard referring to their experience at a show as being "Lennexed". In April 2000, the band unleashed the eponymously titled, "Lennex" onto their eager fans. With gale force speed, dubs of their debut record ripped through college dormitories up and down the coast. Soon after, the band took to the road on a whirlwind tour that left the Universities of Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, and the campuses of Georgetown, Penn State, and Princeton in beautiful disarray. Following that successful college circuit, they garnered a weekly spot playing at Ocean City's renowned Hurricane Club to crowds of 400+. Lennex humbly acknowledges their ever-faithful audience as the fuel that keeps their thermals rising. And rising they are. Out of 1200 bands, Lennex recently took grand prize in an ArtistDirect contest judged by Ska maestro, Dickey Barrett of the Mighty Bosstones, Nate Mendel of the Foo Fighters and Sully of Godsmack. Lennex was also chosen by alternative station WHFS for a coveted slot at the sold out HFS'tival at RFK Stadium in D.C., playing alongside platinum artists such as Incubus, Linkin Park, Coldplay and Green Day (to name just a few). Already in regular rotation at Delaware's WZBH, is the funky, core-punching anthem "Sumkind", from their second album, the iridescent, "For the Sake of Simplicity." A first for an unsigned band at this well regarded rock radio institution. Young, talented and incredibly driven, the elements are conspiring to bring Lennex to your shore. So when you hear the glorious rumblings, come on out. This is one storm you'll want to get caught in.
