"Songs From the North Country" is an album of songs inspired by the landscape of northern New York and New England. It features: Tamra Hayden on vocals and viola Frederick Reed on vocals, guitar, mandolin, keys, and percussion Special guest Al Greene bass and drums on "Waiting For Grace" and "Say Goodbye" Fred is a gifted composer and instrumentalist with a unique sound and melodic style. His songs run a gamut of influences - folk, Americana, world, ambient, blues, alternative rock, psychedelia, etc. Fred's songwriting, slide guitar and unique ambient guitar style have dazzled audiences in New England and around the United States and Canada. His voice and songwriting remind one of artists such as Neil Young, Elliott Smith, Bon Iver, Bob Dylan, Syd Barrett and Pink Floyd. Fred wrote and performed a novelty song, "Ozark Melody" with Jeff Buckley, and has composed music for Sesame Street, Wall Street Journal TV, PBS, Time Warner, and Strange Universe. Fred composed the soundtrack for "Borders" with Steve Buscemi and the Emmy award-winning documentary "Metaphoria". Fred’s song "My Secret Life ", was featured on the NPR show "Echoes" by John Diliberto. Artists Fred has collaborated with include Jeff Buckley, Deee-Lite, Susan McKeown, Gary Lucas, Pete Shelly (the Buzzcocks) and Hamell On Trail. Fred co wrote and played on many tracks of "Fused" by Richard Khuzami, which featured many luminaries of world music.
