No longer does he sound and phrase like Eddie Holland, the new Hughes is a cross between late R&B/Blues greats' Johnnie Taylor and Z Z Hill. The nine tracks, many written by Hughes, are southern soul with some deep soul excursions, i.e., "Rock My Soul."
