简介
Angie was born in southwest Virginia and grew up in Pulaski, VA. She grew up listening to old time music and fell in love with the stories told in ballads. In high school she performed with a group named the APPALKIDS—here she learned to sing more ballads and to tell Jack Tales. In college she continued to perform until she graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. She is a teacher and sings occasionally to her students—she just recently embarked on an artistic journey where she published a book of poetry and now, released a cd with three original songs and songs she loved singing in her youth. Angie is 35 years old and lives in Pulaski with her husband Larry, daughter Emma and three cats named Patches, Bilbo, and Frodo. She stays busy with political activism—advocating for teachers, students, and others who need VOICE. She believes that activism is spiritual. Her music echoes the voices of centuries past—relating the Appalachian Experience. She delves into the destruction of the land for capital gain when she gives Donald Blankenship hell in Drink the Water and warns women of the destructive outcomes when they run off with the devil in House Carpenter. Her voice is smooth like moonshine and the memories come to her at night. Come dance with her in the Moonshine.
