This collection of thirteen pieces were written after the death of my father. For each piece, I gave myself a very simple rule to follow so that I could clear my head and connect the piano as closely as possible to my emotions. These pieces were all written as they were performed. Pauses and dynamics in the performance are that of the composer, not an arbitrary decision by an anonymous performer.

I wrote this music for me. I wrote it without genre, without key signatures, and many times without meter. As much as possible I wanted to record pure emotion; not a romantic recollection of a feeling, but the tension and relief and mixture of feelings that were overwhelming me during the creation of each piece. In these moments, I had never felt so disconnected from the world, and so connected with my music. My only limits were the 88 keys before me.
