简介
I had grown dissatisfied with most "contemporary Christian music" and had given up on most of the genre when my sister introduced me to this album several years ago. Norman's songwriting skill and heartfelt lyrics, which speak equally to the glory of God and to the struggle of the human condition (which, to a Christian, should be inseparable), are nothing short of masterful. He is one of the few Christian artists to whom I listen. It boggles my mind that no reviews have been written for this album; it is another fine entry in his body of work, all of which I would recommend. "Try" sits alongside "Between the Dreaming and the Coming True" at the top of my list of favorite Bebo Norman albums, and near the top of my list of albums by any artist. "Try" is acoustic-based, almost with the feel of a coffee-shop performance (which is not meant as an insult). Some may feel it sounds almost stripped-down in places, but it is beautiful and touching throughout. The orchestration (or lack of, I should say) helps to create an intimacy between the artist and the listener, and brings the meaning in the lyrics into even sharper focus. "Between the Dreaming..." has a more produced feeling to it (just sounds "more full"), but both albums are full of wonderful music and lyrics. Buy them both, if you are a fan of well-written music.
