Lauren Mettler is a singer-songwriter born and raised in Upstate New York. With a practice of delving into many different genres and cultures for insight and nuance, her original subject matter and styles range, but are intrinsically tied together by common themes of compassion, reaching the essential depth of people and issues rather than dwelling on the surface, and ephemera and coping with it. Her writing is evocative, empathetic, and gently explorative, inviting her audience to face their own vulnerabilities and others’ as well. Much of her songwriting ties into the same themes with recurring motifs and archetypes appearing across fables, character portraits, lullabies, and love songs alike. Lauren also expresses herself through other artistic mediums, and designs the artwork for her albums.
