Maryanna Matiss has an earthy beauty, with her long hair blowing in the wind. With a Greek mother, from a small Aegean island, and a half Spanish half French father, she was brought up in Spain and now lives in Paris. ‘The Mediterranean influence smiles on her’. Maryanna has the spirit of a traveller, and has fervently lived her life through her music. Very early on she was seized with a passion to write and sing her own songs after having studied dance and theatre. With her sister Sophia Maryanna formed her first group “Kristal”, which was distributed by Mercury (Universal), and then the group “Charlie Makes The Cook”, with Universal/Scorpio Music. This group had great success in France and around the world. After this Maryanna and Sophia formed the group “Palma”, also with Universal, and found success in the Scandinavian charts. In 2001 Maryanna decided to go solo. Supported by a team of musicians and writers, Allan Pablo Cegarra, Georges Remiet, Jane Henley, Cathy Grier, Jannick Top (Notre-Dame-de-Paris), Adam Kviman (Eagle-eyed Cherry’s producer), Henry Jackman (Seal’s producer, Pirates of the Caribbean), Luis Rigou (Ocarina, Pradal etc.) and Sophia her sister, Maryanna went on to produce two albums with Allan Pablo Cegarra for Sony Music BMG Columbia, one of them getting in the top ten charts in Asia. In 2005 the same album was re mastered and released in the USA, and is now available on several download sites such as iTunes and Cd baby. In 2006 with Allan Pablo, Maryanna produced a French album "1 Corinthians 13”, which has yet to be distributed. With over two million copies sold over these various products she has the faith to continue. In 2007 Maryanna started a music publishing company in London with close associates Allan Cegarra and Richard Jackson-Bass, and with the help of Jane Henley as A&R, Splendid World Music Publishing was born. It now has a catalogue of talent growing everyday. In 2008/09 from her own recording studio was born the new album “Crossroads Of The Beginning”. Produced by Nicolas Estéban, and Allan Pablo Cegarra, this fourth album recorded in English and Spanish, is a mixture of pop and world music. Its songs have an attachment to the south yet they also have a musical need for constant movement. A video clip for one song ‘Anyone, Anytime, Any Place’ has been produced by Nicolas Esteban . Maryanna’s heart is full of hope nourished by her precious team, and she is doing everything in her power to make this fourth album a success story!
