"Lisa and I met when we were both new mothers in Chicago and it was basically she who taught me to love singing! Her confidence and faith have never come across more clearly than in this new CD and I hope her thoughtful and soul-searching journey is as inspiring to you as it is to me. Those of us who love her have been waiting a long time for this, so enjoy!" - Liz Phair "Listening to 'Hancock Place' is like listening to Lisa Lynne read my mind and put it to music. It's a soundtrack for every harried woman's life, a best girlfirend telling you it will all be okay. I dont know how she crawled into my head and saw what I've been thinking, but she has, and she is most welcome there, because her album is both affirmation and antidote to the stress and worries of the day. And she manages to do it with such grace and warmth that I dont even resent that she's so maddeningly gorgeous." - Lisa Belkin, "New York Times 'Life's Work' columnist and XM Radio host As Lisa Lynne Mathis puts it, "I sing until I see better. I hope to touch someone's heart in a new way, a meaningful way, an authentic way, and to be a voice of a generation which longs to lead our nation one day to a new place of integrity and depth …" As a follow up to her first solo EP Lisa Lynne Mathis comes Lisa's first full-length CD Hancock Place. Having toured with famed rock singer Liz Phair during the Lillith Fair, alongside the Sarah McLaughlin, Bonnie Raitt and the Indigo Girls and having appeared on numerous television programs – from "The David Letterman Show" to "Showtime Television" – Lisa's music seeks to give voice to a need for greater intimacy. Lisa records and sings with Broadway Inspirational Voices under the direction of Tony and Grammy nominee Michael McElroy, who comments, "Lisa is an amazing singer/songwriter with a warm, emotional voice and lyrics that cut right through you … her music is exactly what we need right now: uplifting, thought provoking, and full of love." Lisa's standing-room-only concerts at the famed Riverside Church in New York have gained her widespread recognition and praise. The Reverend Dr. James A. Forbes, Jr. states, "Lisa's music will touch your heart and awaken your passion for faith that makes a difference in the world." Her years of singing with the highly acclaimed Riverside Choir, the Inspirational Choir and as a frequent soloist at the Gospel service, Space for Grace, have influenced Lisa to combine a unique blend of robust melodies with strong messages of spirit and life. Lisa Lynne's music indeed comes from the heart and, as she puts it, "I can say without hesitation that every woman I know struggles to find the right balance in her life … to exercise God-given gifts professionally and to still be the spouse needed, the mother required, the daughter depended upon, the friend deserved … all these hats we wear day in and day out until we fall into a heap with a 'phew.' We long for soulful connection and deeper meaning, but who has the energy or time?" She continues about producing Hancock Place "The chance to take these melodies that have been burning holes through the walls of my living room and to transform them into these songs fully produced, fleshed out, brought to a level I couldn't have imagined … whatever I had to juggle, balance, toss together in my daily life in order to make this album would just have to happen this time." Lisa studied classical voice with world-renowned alto Sylvia Schluter in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and with Tracy Watson from Northwestern University's Masters Degree program in Vocal Performance. She has also sung professionally with choirs at the English Reformed Church of Scotland, Begijnhof in Amsterdam as well as with the Grant Park Symphony Chorus in Chicago, the Williams Ferris Chorale, and the elite vocal ensemble, Bella Voce. Lisa has been a frequent soloist at 4th Presbyterian Church in Chicago and the Riverside Church of New York. Lisa received vocal and piano training from the Interlochen National Music Camp in Michigan and went on to receive her Bachelor in Fine Arts in Drama and Music Theatre from the exclusive program at Carnegie-Mellon University, where she graduated with honors.
