简介
Violinist Jeroen de Groot has a living relationship with Johann Sebastian Bach which began when he was twelve years old and his teacher Bets van der Horst put the partitas and sonatas for Violin Solo in front of his eyes. With tremendous eagerness he began to study some parts. That eagerness was decisive for his time as a student, from his sixteenth with Herman Krebbers at the Amsterdam Music Lyceum. On his 24th Jeroen was first prize winner of the Oscar Back Competition. With the prize money in his pocket, he traveled to Salzburg there to take lessons at the famous Hungarian violinist Sándor Végh, once himself a pupil of Jeno Hubay. After Vegh he studied with Ivry Gitlis, the Israeli-French violin virtuoso, who showed him the way back to the time when the music was central rather than the performer. He contacted recorder player Kees Otten, teacher and inspirer of Frans Bruggen, set him on the trail of the arpeggio technique. He bought a bright baroque bow and here is the result: two magnificent CDs.
