简介
"Never So Blue" by Lionel Robinson is a beautiful, organic work recorded live with voice and grand piano in an idyllic coastal setting in Queensland, Australia. The style ranges from bluesy to Latin with all the stops in between - a hint of Paris in "Rue Des Larmes", even a whiff of Satie in "Bridge of Sighs". The mood shifts seamlessly from joy to infinite sadness and back again. All songs are original compositions, save for Bacharach's "The Look Of Love" , included for it's relevance for Lionel awaiting the birth of his daughter - "I can hardly wait to hold you..." A sense of honesty and gentleness pervades. "This collection of songs represents a bridge from the past to the present for me. one song I wrote fifteen years ago, one was finished on the day of recording. Songs for my wife, songs for my children, songs for my family and friends, for places I have been in reality and in imagination. Songs of loss, pain, joy, discovery, recovery, love and contemplation. A genuinely 'unplugged' recording, I sang and played piano live. No safety net. Scary. I hope these songs build a bridge from me to you." Lionel Robinson
