Michael Guinn is a Texas native who has moved the crowds with his poetry and quickly established himself as one of the premier Spoken Word Poets in the nation. Holding a Masters Degree in Social work, he's also the CEO/Founder of Mental Massages(A Company that creates and delivers framed poetry). His many talents include not only poetry but acting as well. Michael most recently performed in the 2003 Martin Luther King Theatre Project Keeping The Dream Alive and the 2004 MLK Production "And The Dream Goes On" in Sacramento Ca. Michael has also done work for television, radio and commericals. He recently recived call backs for several net work shows including the new MBC Network's show SPOKEN". Michael currently ranks 13th in the country and consistently ranks among the top 20 poets at the National Poetry Slams the past two years. As a member of the Fort Worth Slam Venue he founded in 2001 the seam ranked among the top 20 teams yearly. Michael also placed 3rd in the New Word Series in Berkeley Ca, and 3rd in the 25,000 Step To The Mic Spoken Word Competition in Stockton Ca in 2003. And was a finalist for 4 of the 5 premiere spoken word competitions in 2004. Including the Bluebonnet slam, the AIPF Slam and Texas Regional Slam Champ in San Antonio. World Ranked IWPS Worceester Massachusetts 2005. Michael began writing poetry as an outlet for the stress and frustration shared by all workers in Child Protection and now his craft has blossomed into an instrument of inspiration, which serves as a passionately poetic voice for both adults and children. Michael's history of poetic achievements include: Co-Founder of Spoken Images(An African-American Performance Troupe), Actor, Slam Poet and published author of 10 books of poetry. Including a self-published collecton of poetry called Back Talk and has released two Spoken Word CD's. Member, Slam Master/Coach and Founder of the Fort Worth National Slam Team, Featured poet for a number of venues all over the nation. Worked with a segment for T.V. nominated for a local Emmy (2001) and has edited, organized and published an anthology of poetry about the 911 tragedy called FREEDOM, among numerous other literary achievements.
