The music in Decorate the Sky is experimental singer-songwriter pop that lures the listener to a magical place through harmonics, harsh lyrics and spiritual vocals. A naked sound influenced by Kings of Convenience, Sigur Ros, Portishead and 90′s bands like Cranberries, Cardigans and Radiohead. The music is however also inspired by the melancholy of metal but also to happy beats from indie-pop bands like Bob hund, The bird and the bee, The Killers, the Strokes, Detektivbyrån or similar. Compare the sound to the Tiny, Wildbirds and Peacedrums. Decorate the sky was formed in 2009 by Sandra Sandy Mattsson and Emma Svensson after, meeting again, randomly at a bus stop in central Gothenburg. They’d already played together in 2004 in the band Konflykt with Frida Mattsson. Emma played glockenspiel, saxophone and melodica and had a significant part in setting the spirit of the band. However, she decided to leave the band in the spring of 2011 and was replaced by Frida Mattsson who plays the saxophone and guitar. Hannah Hansen Erlandsson joined the band in December 2011 with glockenspiel and vocals. Sandra plays guitar, sings the lead vocals and writes most of the songs. "We lived in the country, near the forest. The wind blew softly in our ears telling us that something was out there. Something small and knowing. Gently humming, gently whispering the tones. And from their castle came the bird; heading for the city lights and eager to decorate the sky."
