BREAKAWAY is a 5-piece, Sydney-based rock band formed in 2012. Since the band’s formation they have released their debut EP ‘One Minute | One Moment’ recorded by Dave Petrovic at Electric Sun Studios (Tonight Alive, Heroes For Hire, Pop Goes Punk) which has seen over 10 000 downloads, released three music videos collectively gaining over 100,000 views and received national recognition with the success of radio airplay. Their latest single ‘At the World’s End’ saw heightened success with TV airplay on RAGE, an addition into MTV’s Most Wanted music video playlist as well as being featured as a ‘Free Song of the Day’ on Purevolume. After completing two east coast tours and playing with the likes of Flyleaf (USA), Closure in Moscow, Heroes for Hire, The Mission in Motion, Darren Cordeux of Kisschasy, Hands like Houses and more in 2013, BREAKAWAY finished the year as part of Purevolume’s Top Ten Unsigned Bands of 2013 and are currently writing for their debut album. The new year has already brought high expectations of the band, receiving praise from Alternative Press Magazine in their ‘100 Bands You Need To Know This Year’ edition. Breakaway have completed their first Headline East Coast Tour followed up by supporting Taking Back Sunday and The Used, Anberlin and Hands like Houses around Australia. With a completely revamped live set incorporating a selection of their EP and unreleased songs, BREAKAWAY are set to make a lasting impression in 2014.
