TorQ Percussion Quartet's third album, "Without A Map", is the result of a short-term process (four days holed up in an old Orange Lodge in Midland, Ontario, recording and talking and thinking and playing) and a long term process (ten years of improvising together and building a colour pallet of sounds). The tracks on this album represent a sort of sonic journey, inspired by the building we stayed in and its surroundings. From shimmering metals to pounding drums to gentle woodblocks, each disc - respectively titled "There" and "Back" uses the same groups of instruments in the same order, but with markedly different results.
