简介
Asylum Confidential is the label of the internationally recognized club Asylum Afterhours (one of the top clubs in the world according to DJ Mag each year). Founded in Honolulu, Hawaii, Asylum is known for bringing the best techno and house to the beautiful island, and now the imprint will act as an extension of the music being played at Asylum. The third EP on the label comes from Dozeguise with remixes from Matt Fear, Silky & Jonny Cruz. Dozeguise is a collaborative project from Zane (Darren M Zane) and Higher Concept (Chris Chartier) that releases innovative club tracks that straddle the divide between house and techno, draw inspiration from US champion Butane and also acts as resident DJs at Honolulu's premier party, Asylum Confidential. First cut ?So Good' is a woozy deep house number with curious melodies dribbling in and out of earshot. Deep, dance-inducing kicks drop from a decent height below and twinkling stars, distant vocal murmurs and libidinous female coos make for a really nice, intimate and heartfelt atmosphere. This is a subtle, sensitive mood track that really makes you feel good. The first remix is from disCerN - a duo formed in the beginning of 2013 comprised of the producers and DJs Jonny Cruz & Silky. The legend that is Timo Maas has signed a new disCerN single ?Coarse Language? for his CD mix compilation forthcoming this summer on Toronto's My Favorite Robot Records and the pair are destined for big things. Their remix is a more minimalistic thing with liquid basslines and slinky synths snaking around an infectious kick clap combo. Deep and shadowy, it's a fine piece of work. The next Dozeguise original is ?Fresh Produce'. This one is spooky and haunting, with strange sonic spirits and alien life forms hiding in the corners of the track. Synths echo out onto wide open plains and a slightly dystopian deep space vibe pervades the whole mid tempo house track in some style. Next up, the UK's Hot Waves aligned talent that is Matt Fear, who has played all over Europe and Ibiza in the last year, turns in his take of ?Fresh Produce'. It builds in teasing layers, with well-defined drum fills and trilling, watery melodies setting the tone. Strange stabs and whirring machine noises make for an unpredictable entre before the kicks drop proper and a main room house weapon is born. Finally, Dozeguise's ?If' closes out this most interesting EP. It's a strange and curious sound world of vocal ad libs, alien tension and down low, rubbery kicks. Purposefully slow and groovy, the track more than keeps your attention from start to finish with its inventive hooks and occult vibes. Asylum Confidential once again come up with the goods here ?' house music that is refreshingly different and strangely compelling
