“Blue Lightning” is a folk rock band based out of Portland, Oregon. Featuring violin as a lead instrument the band's influences range from Bob Dylan to Neil Young to Joni Mitchell. With elements of folk, rock-a-billy, Irish, blues and even a bit of classical in the mix the band has created a unique sound with both their original music and with their arrangments of classic songs. Their new CD "Live at the Aladdin," was recorded at the famed theater in Portland, Oregon in October 2006. It is an energetic followup to their first CD “Maestro in the Jam,” released in the summer of 2006. Their music has been featured on the “Bob Dylan Radio Hour” on the Sirius Satellite Network and as well they have appeared on the nationally syndicated radio program “River City Folk.” The program is heard weekly on more than 200 public radio stations and NPR affiliates across the U.S. and on the XM Satellite Network.
