简介
Keith Scott has literally returned to his roots after many years of performing, arranging, and composing Jazz, Rock, Pop, and Country music. This program has a warm and gentle innocence that will capture the ear of even those listeners who claim not to like classical music. Keith has a winner with this one. David Strattford Relax Trax Records During my preparation for the recording of this CD, I was constantly reminded of my younger brother, Kim, and all the time and dedication he´s invested into becoming a celebrated virtuoso at the organ, harpsichord and lautenwerk. Kim earned his performance degrees from Westminster Choir College and the New England Conservatory, and in 1988, he commissioned the first lautenwerk to be built in North America from harpsichord maker Willard Martin, collaborating with the builder on the project. His pioneering first recording on that instrument was named to Gramophone magazine´s Critic´s Choice list. Kim Heindel has performed concerts and recitals all over the U.S. and Germany. Critics have acclaimed his interpretations as not only ¨historically informed¨(Cleveland Plain Dealer) but also ïnstinctive and utterly right for each piece. He played the best Bach I´ve heard in 20 years¨(American Record Guide). Kim has recorded on the Gasparo and Dorian record labels. He is currently organist at Mount Washington Presbyterian Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. My brother's talent and accomplishments amaze me and will always eclipse anything I could possibly attempt in the classical genre. For more information about Kim and his recordings, "google" Kim Heindel. Our first piano teacher was Beatrice Hess, a Peabody graduate who was a gifted pianist and teacher. The background she provided was a solid foundation for success in any future musical endeavors following high school, as proven by the achievements of my brother. The cover of this CD is the sheet music for ¨Solfeggietto,¨a piece that I studied with Mrs. Hess during high school. It´s been in the family for 46 years, and was also used by Kim while I was in college. A few years ago, it was discovered in the Heindel household by my highly organized mother, Gladys. She said the passing years weren´t allowing her to play at that level anymore. She thought it should come back to me. The inside of the music is adorned with pencil markings to correct us on fingerings, dynamics, pedal points and connected notes. We´re no longer sure who did what wrong by those markings, but I´m willing to take most of the blame. Mrs. Hess was never very pleased with my rendition of this piece, so I included my new and improved version on this project in order to help vindicate myself. You know what they say, ¨Better late than never.¨ Notes from my producer: Keith earned his B.S. in music (piano major) from West Chester University, and three credits toward his masters from the University of South Florida. He also received a scholarship award for arranging from Down Beat magazine, as well as numerous songwriting awards. His first CD release on Eroica/Turn On Records was in April of 2004. Music critic reviews for that CD, ¨Waikiki,¨ can be seen at Turn On Records. Five of Scott´s CD´s are available for single song digital download at all the legit online stores, and this one will also be available there very soon.
