简介
With influences ranging as far afield as traditional Celtic and Appalachian banjo and fiddle styles to more contemporary musical stylings and beats, Speed the Plough bridges genres and has always worked to cook up musical stew with fresh musical tastings. The boys, as they have been known by their faithful live performance base since 1981, are as at home with the musical curlicues of the eighteenth century as they are with the lyricism of, say, Greatful Dead’s Robert Hunter. This recording offers a genre bending mix of instrumentals and songs: nine original compositions and two old traditional chestnuts, plus a tune by the blind 19th Century Irish harper Turlough O'Carolan, and features a treasure trove of instrumentation: guitars, fiddles, banjo, mandolin, whistle, flutes, and bass. So sit back or kick up your heels as you discover the ingenious, delectable, and thoroughly unprecedented sounds of Speed the Plough.
