简介
ABOUT ALAN STOREYGARD AND HIS MUSIC “Music can often convey what words alone cannot.” Alan Storeygard is a pianist, composer, arranger, and family doctor. He has been a voting member of The Recording Academy (NARAS) for many years. Some of the musicians that have been inspirational to him and have influenced his music are Ramsey Lewis, Dave Brubeck, and Oscar Peterson. Alan Storeygard played for many audiences during his career. One of the highlights was playing the piano for the Clintons in 2015 at a fundraiser event in his homestate Arkansas. He released his debut album “Church Jazz” in 2001, a solo piano album, which was written and arranged to allow jazz piano to be played in church services. Alan is an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Jacksonville, Arkansas, a very open-minded congregation, that embraces all types of music, including jazz. “Church Jazz” was a winner in jazz piano composition in the 2002 IBLA Grand Prize International Piano and Voice Competition in Italy. The album was also nominated as a semifinalist in the 2004 Grammy Showcase Competition in Memphis. Since then Storeygard has released four other albums on his own record label Church Jazz , his latest named “Jazz meets the Classics”. He formed the Alan Storeygard Trio and subsequently the Alan Storeygard Trio & Friends where he featured artists such as drummer Dave Rogers and bass player Brian Wolverton. His second album, “Just Havin’ Fun,” was released in 2006 with Dave Rogers on drums and Joe Vick on bass. Vocalist Taylor Carlisle sings her unique rendition of “Fever.” Baritone Lawrence Hamilton ( who sang in Ragtime on Broadway for three years) sings on “Third Time’s a Charm” – “Wade in the Water” and “My Funny Valentine.” Alan played his arrangement of “Amazing Grace,” in Carnegie Hall at the 2003 New York IBLA Awards Concert. The Alan Storeygard Trio was also invited to play the Star Spangled Banner at Carnegie Hall, in 2011, in New York at the IBLA Awards Concert. Alan’s version of the “Star Spangled Banner” is included on his latest album “Jazz meets the Classics.” Alan Storeygard's new album "Jazz meets the Classics" is an amazing fusion of Jazz with classical music. Mastered by Grammy® winner Ricky Kej it includes music by Chopin, Bach, Beethoven, Berlioz, Offenbach, Tchaikovsky and other composers uniquely arranged by Alan Storeygard from Symphonic to trio arrangements.
