简介
Ill Do Anything For You is taken from Lee McDonald's Sweet Magic album, one of the most sought after, rare and revered soul records, originally released on Debbie Records in 1981. Sweet Magic includes the great cover versions of Ecstasy Passion and Pain's Ill Do Anything for You, as well as The Carpenters We've Only Just Begun (previously released on Favorite Recordings). Lee McDonald started singing at the age of 13 in various groups, school talent shows and on gospel radio stations. He had always admired artists such as Smokey Robinson & the Four Tops but his main influence for his singing style was Cuba Gooding of The Main Ingredient. In 1969, Lee came to New York where he sang in nightclubs, hotels and various local bands. Then one day in a rehearsal studio in Brooklyn N.Y., he met Ron Foster, the man responsible for writing and arranging many of the tracks on the Sweet Magic album. Ron Foster toured with the group Ecstasy, Passion & Pain as keyboardist and singer, performing on several top 10 billboard acknowledged hit records such as Good Things Don't Last Forever, I Wouldn't Give You Up, and Ask Me. He also appeared on television & radio shows (Mike Douglas, Don Cornelius, Soul Train and the George Woods Dance Show) and performed live on stage with Earth, Wind & Fire, Kool & the Gang, Tina Turner, The Drifters, The O-Jays, The Stylistics, Blue Magic, Harold Melvin & The Bluenotes, and many other top 10 groups in the 1970s. He was also signed on as a writer/producer/recording artist/arranger with Roulette Records.
