From Bluegrass-Funk to Dancefloor-Stomp, Floyd-esque Psychadelica or catchy futuristic Pop, it's all in there somewhere, somehow, and makes for quite an interesting and refreshing debut by a solo-artist, of any genre at that. Following the tradition of one-man-do-it-all artists like Sly Stone, Stevie Wonder and of course Prince, Saoul plays, writes and sings everything on this record and takes good care to then produce something that sounds both 'retro' and 'now', nostalgic but futuristic at the same time. And while paying homage to his heroes, he manages to establish a definite 'Saoul-brand of Funk', a groove that can go anywhere at any time, a ride that's only just begun but is guaranteed to be wild and full of funky surprises.
