简介

"Prime of Life is as lively and cohesive as a record can be" THE NEW YORK CITY JAZZ RECORD, Terrell Holmes "Zimmer’s ride cymbal darts like sizzling popcorn” DOWN BEAT “Take note pronto of this young up-and-coming drummer/leader.” MODERN DRUMMER "Prime of Life, drummer Pete Zimmer's fifth recording as a leader, has a clean, crisp, soulful sound." ALLABOUTJAZZ.COM, Dan McClenaghan "Young Mr. Zimmer's a drummer worth discovering." HOT HOUSE "Self-reliance has been Pete Zimmer’s calling card since he relocated to New York City in 2001. And the same confidence and drive that impelled this fine drummer to establish his own label, produce his own albums, and supply the majority of his recorded repertoire also permeates "Prime of Life," Zimmer’s fifth recording as a leader. The album’s title sets the tone of certainty. "My twenties were still about the learning process, gaining knowledge and experience. With age and practice, I feel that I have the skills and focus to steer my music in the direction it needs to go," says Zimmer, who was thirty-three at the time of the recording. "Now is just the beginning."" – Steve Futterman writes about jazz regularly for The New Yorker Pete Zimmer drums George Garzone tenor saxophone Peter Bernstein guitar Peter Slavov bass 1) Prime of Life 7:03 Pete Zimmer BMI 2) One for GG 5:13 Pete Zimmer BMI 3) Tranquility 6:24 Pete Zimmer BMI 4) Carefree 6:36 Pete Zimmer BMI 5) Strollin' Down Bourbon Street 6:17 George Garzone (Gargull Music) ASCAP 6) T.T.T. 5:51 George Garzone (Gargull Music) ASCAP 7) Night Vision 7:48 Pete Zimmer BMI 8) Almost Home 5:19 Pete Zimmer BMI 9) The Three Petes 4:42 George Garzone (Gargull Music) ASCAP Total Time: 55:13 Produced by Pete Zimmer Recorded May 18, 2011 at Systems Two, Brooklyn, NY Recording Engineer: Jon Rosenberg Assistant Engineer: Max Ross Mixed by Joseph Marciano Mastered by Max Ross Photos by Daisuke Abe CD Design by UoU Productions Liner Notes by Steve Futterman Pete Zimmer Biography: Pete Zimmer, born and raised in Waukesha, Wisconsin, has established himself amongst the forefront as one of the top-call young drummers in New York City’s jazz scene since his arrival to New York over a decade ago in June of 2001.
