简介
Nicholas Patrick Quigley (b. 1994) is an independent composer currently based in Boston, Massachusetts. Best known as a creative and interdisciplinary musician, he is also a teacher, researcher, and artistic industry consultant. Drawing on his childhood and teaching experience in cities, he aims to foster creativity and critical consciousness at the forefront of his praxes in education, entrepreneurship, and music. He studied at the University of Massachusetts and earned the Chancellor's Music Scholarship, and is currently pursuing advanced study at the Boston University School of Music. Interventions 1 – 5 is a collection of chamber music and contemporary alternative songs. The intent of the composer is to provide an experience comparable to moving around in a gallery, from ‘intervention’ to ‘intervention.’ Some pieces are single-movement in a sense, and others break down into smaller sections called ‘episodes.’ Intervention No. 1 is composed for solo piano, Intervention No. 2 is for guitar and voice in three episodes, Intervention No. 3 is for solo celesta, Intervention No. 4 is for bassoon, marimba, and viola in three episodes, and finally, Intervention No. 5 is composed for solo viola in five episodes. Outside of these experiences is an Overture for strings, and the Epilogue, which reprises the singer-guitarist and strings to conclude the experience. Credits are listed alphabetically.
