John Phillips is an Australian songwriter, singer and guitarist who has dipped his toe into most genres of music either on the stage or in his home studio. He loves the fact that music can change any atmosphere and writes to have that same impact on his own life. Playing in bands since his teens, John has clocked up an impressive list of band memberships. He has fronted bands like Urban Principle and Pipelines, been in bands that supported iconic Australian acts from INXS and Midnight Oil to AC/DC, Radio Birdman and The Birthday Party, released material and honed his musicianship in a trail of bands including early Goanna and New Wave outfit Kikx. In recent years he has been teaching music production, performing and recording to secondary students and a good deal of time is spent in his home-based studio writing and recording music for release and the odd film and television soundtrack.
