This is the first full length album from Daria & The Hip Drops, which started going into the works after the vocalist and steel pannist bandleader, Daria Dzurik released her debut album under her own name, entitle "Calliope" in 2010. Hipnotic is a great representation of the sound of the full band, combining Caribbean, funk, pop, and rock elements with danceable beats and catchy hooks. Daria & The Hip Drops incorporates many styles into making 'Hipnotic' a thorough listening experience from the first to last track of the album, and making steel pan a prominent instrument used diversely to create a modern pop sound scape.
