简介
I haven't written political songs for years -- and then Trump happened. These songs were written in the weeks after the election, as I fought to stay sane and off of Zoloft, since it messes with creativity. The album poured out of me, and brought me back to my folk roots, and a kind of alternative rock I've always loved but I hadn't been writing. This full-band version of the album allows the more rock songs to be fully realized. The "unplugged" version of the album, also available at CD Baby, is more stripped-down folk, in the tradition of albums like Phil Ochs' All the News That's Fit to Sing. I'm lucky, with both versions of the CD, that I live in Nashville, and I can work with the most brilliant, talented musicians in the world. Tom Manche played guitar on the unplugged album, and he's on a lot of tracks, still, on this version of the album. Kathy Hussey's wonderful background vocals are on both. Tim Lorsch's wonderful, haunting playing is on a number of tracks on this version of the album: violin, octave violin and cello. Scott Neubert produced and arranged the full-band sessions for this album, as well as playing electric, acoustic and pedal steel guitar, and banjo. Dwain Rowe did a variety of amazing things on keyboard. Steve Holland played drums and Matt McGee played bass. I grew up and lived a lot of my life in the New York/New Jersey area. I've also lived in the UK and spent time in Latin America. I moved to Nashville in 2006. You can hear my more mainstream (mostly) country music here at CD Baby: my albums Brooklyn Cowgirl and The Brooklyn Cowgirl Rides Again.
