Jade Sperry, nxew.ca Mip is pleased to announce the release of her debut EP "Caught in Between;" her first project as a solo artist. Mip, who recently moved to Toronto, ON, recorded the album in 2009 at Soma Sound Studios (with producer by Eric Hogg) in Victoria BC. The EP has since been recieved successfully at two EP releases: one in her home town of Smithers, BC and one in her city of residence for 5 years, Victoria BC. With this new EP mip hope's to start carving her niche in the vast Canadian independent music scene. The EP "Caught in Between," consists of 6 original songs by mip which demonstrate her almost manic energy, edgy vocals, raw guitar playing, and her eclectic musical influences from Springsteen to the Fratellis. Topically, the songs range from student life--infatuation with an exchange student and student housing--to contemplations on life as an artist, a retail worker, and an emotionally perturbed festival goer. All of these subjects are drawn from mip's experiences over the past 6 years studying at the University of Victoria and dealing with the trials and tribulations of young adulthood. At age 23 mip has shared the stage with 2 time Juno award winner Alex Cuba and has toured in New York (CMJ 08) and Ontario with blues rocker Rachelle van Zanten (formerly of Painting Daisies) as well as a variety of night clubs and cafes in Victoria and Toronto.
