简介
Organically Good Trio is a Hammond organ driven roots instrumental group out of Boston. Founded by Slightly Stoopid keyboard player Paul Wolstencroft, the band has a sound reminiscent of the great organ trio albums of the late 60's mixed with a rub a dub style . Blazin' in Brooklyn captures the unique live sound of the band from the legendary Brooklyn Bowl, NY. From the rock steady beats of Tommy Benedetti, to the foot pedal organ bass from Paul Wolstencroft, to the intricate rhythm and solos from Van Martin, this album captures the hard to define sound created at live shows. At times they sound like Grant Green, the Meters or even Jimmy McGriff, and can resemble newer bands such as the Mighty Imperials and the New Mastersounds. Other times there is a roots reggae, dub sound reminiscent of Jackie Mittoo, Burning Spear and Ernest Ranglin. There's a reason they use a Hammond organ in a church; its because it's a very soulful instrument. It's like an entire orchestra at your fingertips. Often imitated never duplicated, the Hammond organ is the organ sound everyone is after. Hammond Organ - Paul Wolstencroft (Slightly Stoopid) Drums - Tommy Benedetti (John Brown's Body) Guitar - Van Martin (Dub Apocalypse)
