Combining the best elements of the last three decades of music, the band bridges the gap between Led Zeppelin and Soundgarden to a note. In 1999 WestWorld released their self-titled debut on Spitfire Records. The band's stellar musicianship and undeniably catchy, hook laden material earned them rave reviews and accolades from fans and critics alike. While the band actually began life as a side project for it's four main members (keyboardist / violinist Mark Wood often guests with the band), things have slowly but surely evolved over time. "WestWorld has been a band from the day we finished tracking the first album," says Harnell. "People can't always seem to see that but hopefully they'll realize it soon enough and we won't have to clarify this anymore, haha." With Skin being a darker and moodier effort than its predecessor, WestWorld is stretching themselves more, both musically and lyrically. The title track lays the groundwork for the rest of the album lyrically. Harnell explains, ""Skin" touches on how the media brainwashes society regarding beauty - an unattainable perfection displayed by fashion magazines and the like - and how that actually affects relationships."
