简介
The music industry has seen its fair share of one hit wonders. Add to that the number of gimmicky one-offs and the just-couldn't-make-its that the world has witnessed and you begin to ponder if all of the world's talent has been shipped off to another planet. Then you hear a recording by Toronto electronica-rock band, Secret Suburbia...and you remember the reason you fell in love with music to begin with. Frontman T.J. Habibi has possessed the it factor since the day we was born. An all-around musical prodigy, Habibi may very well have been born with a guitar in his hands. The group's songwriter, producer, guitarist and lead vocalist, Habibi has masterminded the unique and eclectic futuristic funk-rock style that has come to be known as the Secret Suburbia sound. Along with guitarist Kyle Thomas, and drummer John Michalopoulos, T.J. Habibi has also developed Secret Suburbia as a second-to-none live act. For the better part of the past decade, the group has enjoyed success touring across Canada and abroad to promote the release of each of their independently released albums. With Seeing Double With One Eye (2004) and Midi Gritty (2007) achieving the type of critical acclaim that most bands only dream of, Secret Suburbia has slowly but surely built a wonderous music catalogue and ever-growing ravenous fan base that is destined to have this band rocking for decades to come. Secret Suburbia's capturing of Bodog's Best Indie Act in Toronto in 2007 only lends further credence to this assertion. Captivating performances as the opening act for such musical superstars as Matthew Good, Sloan, Treble Charger and Sam Roberts have proven that Secret Suburbia has all the makings of a major player in the alternative rock scene. Habibi hasn't stopped there, however. Often called upon to score major television productions, Habibi has provided the soundtrack to such shows as 24, Gene Simmons Family Jewels, Steven Seagal: Lawman, Disney's Path To 911, Degrassi and MTV's Real World! Enter We Used To Live Here, Secret Suburbia's long-awaited third album. With music perfectly balancing his trademark soothing and haunting build-ups with the edgy and brash in-your-face climaxes, Habibi has unimaginably outdone himself with the group's 2011 offering. Songs like the first single, Incision, a cutting-edge, larger-than-life hard rock kickoff, prove Habibi to be a master of the experimental electronica-rock style. Set for release in the spring of 2011, We Used To Live Here is where it is at!
