Evangeline Durst: Guitar/ Vocals Michael Kurjan : Keys/ Vocals Deb Piccolo : Drums/Vocals Vange and Michael have been playing together on and off for 15 years. First with the band Bering Strait from '93-95, then with "Sister Brother" from 95- 2000. They have produced 3 CDs, "Bering Strait", "Alchemy" and "Walking Miracle". Deb Piccolo jumped into the mix in February 2006 and is a fantastic addition. She has a great musical ear and is funny as hell too. EV3 has combined their talents to create two new CD'S: "Soul Tripp'n" and "My Soul". Bios- Vange Durst: I started EV3 in 2007 with Michael Kurjan and Deb Piccolo. I always liked the idea of a Trio, and this has been a golden opportunity to play with a couple of good friends and excellent musicians. We love to jam together and find songwriting very easy; so easy in fact that when we started recording "My Soul" we ended up with 13 tracks, a few of which were written the week before we went in! The music style is a mix of rock styles with a fair pinch of folk and pop. All very melodic with some funky undertones. We also have 3 sets of cover material from the 60's into the new millennium. Michael and I have 3 previous CD's together, one with Bering Strait and two with Sister Brother and we have gotten into a great groove over the years. He usually comes up with some cool chords and then we jam with them and I add some lyrics and we're off and running with a tune. The addition of Deb Piccolo has been fantastic because she has such a great musical ear. Arranging is one of her skills and she always comes up with good ideas and helpful suggestions. We have a good time together and we are very proud of the work we have done on "My Soul". We hope you like it to! Deb Picolo: I've been playing drums since the age of 9. My "illustrious" musical journey began in a band called “The Reign” from 1990-93. I then formed pop/rock/funk band “Swivel Hips” in 1997 and enjoyed performing with that project for 6 yrs. I’ve played and recorded with various local projects and artists around Connecticut over the past 17 yrs. Currently, I enjoy performing with eclectic rock band EV3 and funk/rock band D-VINE. Michael Kurjan: I grew up in the sixties listening to the sounds of bands like the Doors, the Kinks, Yardbirds, Jefferson Airplane. My mother got me an accordion. I played the songs I loved so much on it, but I was more successful when the family acquired an old upright piano. In college, I opened to 20th century classical music, such as Debussy, Stravinsky and Bartok. I liked to improvise on the piano. In the early 80s, New Wave hit, and it moved me. I became a student of listening to how songs are written and what makes them so effective. I began writing music in my teens but really took off in the 1980s. I love to collaborate with other musicians and get into a groove with the energy just flowing into an altered state. I aim to produce a musical texture that creates a mood and state of mind. In 1987 I began to be a regular accompanist on the piano for the Kathryn Kollar Dance Group until 2005. In the late 80s I began a five year productive songwriting relationship with the late India Blue. In 1990, I met Vange Durst, and we played together in Bering Strait, and then Sister Brother. I love Vange's raw energy and bluesy voice, and find it great when we evolve a textured, ripping, soulful jam. In EV3, Deb Piccolo on drums adds a great groove, and Deb is great at framing a song so that the song plays like a completed book.
